fantastic third quarter 1800's Japy Freres French Figural Dog & Cherub/Putti Shelf Clock! I have searched all over the internet and I cannot find a similar clock case like this anywhere! This clock case is impressive, the Dog & Cherub portion of the clock is spelter, it is not bronze, and the base is slate that was made to accent the clock. The only damage to this clock does appear on the slate base, as you can see from the photograph. The rest of the case, clock, and movement is in original condition, in great shape with only minimal surface wear. The clock is of impressive size, measuring in at 22.5 inches wide by 6.5 inches on the base, and is 22.5 inches tall. This clock does run, but it only wants to run for about an hour or two and then it quits, I am not sure if it is because we do not have the clock perfectly level or if the movement needs to be serviced. The clock movement is signed Japy Freres and it does seem to bear the mark to date it sometime between the 1860's or early part of the 1870s.
